Glossary

Inputs are the resources you invest – staff time, funding, facilities, equipment, and expertise. These are the building blocks that make your work possible.

Activities are the specific actions your organization takes using those inputs – running programs, providing services, conducting workshops, or delivering interventions.

Outputs are the direct, measurable products of your activities – number of people served, workshops conducted, meals distributed, or training sessions completed. These are typically quantifiable and occur in the short term.

Outcomes are the changes that result from your outputs, usually categorized by time frame:

  1. Short-term outcomes: Immediate changes like increased knowledge, awareness, or skills
  2. Medium-term outcomes: Behavioral changes, policy shifts, or improved conditions
  3. Long-term outcomes: Sustained changes in systems, communities, or populations

Impact represents the broader, lasting changes your work contributes to – the ultimate transformation you're working toward.
