Mision Hispana

GCF is pleased to highlight our people and projects, which are numerous and diverse, sharing how they are impacting lives around the world. Paul & Thania are Agents of the Great Commission Foundation (GCF), and work with Mision Hispana. Paul & Thania have a big month planned in December because they get to share the Great News of Jesus with so many people, and celebrate Jesus' birthday with gifts for the kids. While they look forward to the sharing opportunities this Christmas season, they also gave us an update of challenges, victories, and God's provision. We have included information from their newsletter below. As you may have heard, the volcano erupted again and through the generous donations that came in we were able to feed 400 children at the shelter and provide assistance they needed. That opened up a new and exciting opportunity for us to work with the mayor's office at their municipal health clinic.  We will be transferring our medical efforts over to this wonderful clinic.  The public clinic and police station will remain open in Chapernas but we will shift our medical efforts to the mayor's public clinic. That will provide a safer environment for visiting physicians and nurses and also make referrals for follow up much easier. The youth group from Chapernas goes to Escuintla once a week to have their Bible study and discipleship meeting. It has grown tremendously, but we are concerned for the guys because of all the crime there lately.  Unfortunately, Chapernas has been hit hard by crime so we think its better to be in Escuinlta for now. Pray that the people of Chapernas would take more interest in community safety and more responsibility for the well-being of the community so we can continue our work there. The other Hope Center is doing great!  Sixty women (plus children) continue to participate in Thania's classes. These ladies have faithfully been attending for five months.Lives are being changed each week! Each one recently received discipleship books and craft boxes and supplies.  This is the start of micro-businesses for many of the ladies. They're already selling bracelets and other crafts that they are making. Projects like this one help them support their families and buy desperately needed food and school supplies. This coming year we will be sponsoring several students with scholarships and school supplies.  We already have a sponsor for five of the girls, but are still short for the guys.  We will have more information soon, but please pray about being involved. We continue to be amazed at the open doors for discipleship in this area of Guatemala. We can't thank you enough for your prayers, friendship, and donations.
