A former mining town, Bulembu is home to more than 350 orphans and vulnerable children receiving full- time care in family homes along with good quality education. Through the help of organizations like the Great Commission Foundation, our children have all of their daily needs met and Bulembu is able to run creative enterprises which provide many jobs to locals and is a source of income for child care. Our vision is to raise the children to become our future leaders in the kingdom of Eswatini by restoring hope, equipping lives and building family through Christ-centered community care and community enterprise - and our partners make this possible. Our motto is faith, hope, and love and we recently were able to witness three of our young people standing up and demonstrating these values with all their hearts. Nolungelo, Colani and Sicelimphilo together with staff member Klaus embarked on an epic adventure to help a young lady, Phephile, receive a new prosthetic leg. Having grown up together in the village, the three young adults know the challenges of walking the steep hill to school every day, but for Phephile this was a tougher challenge due to her amputated leg caused by a snakebite when she was little.Phephile has outgrown her current leg and is in need of a replacement leg to prevent permanent damage to her spine and hips. This would cost a hefty ZAR120,000 and so this is where the adventurous four decided to step in and help. They decided to embark on the Epic Adventure Race, an incredible 120km over 24 hours comprised of trekking, cycling and kayaking to raise support. They entered, rallied sponsors, took to training and through their faith, hope, love and sheer determination and effort, they raised over the ZAR120,000 needed to purchase Phephile’s prosthetic leg.We are incredibly proud of these young people and the way they demonstrate that they are growing into people who will truly transform the nation of Eswatini for good. We invite you to join us in raising the future leaders of Eswatini.
