His Hope Uganda Blog - June 1, 2022

His Hope Uganda (HHU) is a small organization that began quietly in 2009 to provide sponsorship to 47 Ugandan children in the Jinja District. Since then, the ministry has grown to about 150 children in the sponsorship program. Their goal is to share the hope of Jesus with vulnerable children and their families by providing access to education, health care, and discipleship and to see Ugandan youth transformed by the love of God and living as disciples of Christ. They reach out to communities through child sponsorship, building houses/brick latrines, and providing medical support. The housing initiative is designed to help families living in dangerous and unfavourable conditions by replacing their unstable and sometimes incomplete houses with safe, permanent brick structures.

The program began when HHU’s founder & field director, Kimi, visited the home of a young student who was perpetually sick and discovered a small house with one wall of stick, mud and cow dung was collapsing. The metal roof panels were kept in place by rocks but leaked and featured plastic bags stuffed in their holes. The bags cultured mould and the dirt floor invited rats that nibbled on the children’s feet and snakes.  Within months, funds were raised to replace it.

His Hope Uganda has now blessed over 40 families with a new homes with concrete floors, brick walls, steel roofs and wood-shuttered windows and doors.

The building of houses is funded by specific donations toward this program as well as funds raised in Canada from recycled cans and bottles.  Each home costs about $2,200 (Canadian) and features a plaque of dedication to the family or organization that has provided the funds for the home.

This is just one of the many things that His Hope Uganda is doing to impact the lives of others in Jesus’ name. For more information about HHU visit their website: http://www.hishope.org/PGJyLz4=

Prayer Request:

  • Praise that a much-needed vehicle was purchased and that they were able to find a trustworthy person to deal with.

  • Pray for the hearts of the students that they will continue to be soft towards the Lord.

  • Pray for Kimi as she applies for a work permit. She has three months to get her application for a work permit sorted out.
