Misión Hispana Blog - Nov 9, 2022

Misión Hispana is located in Puerto San Jose, Guatemala. Paul and Thania Heier originally started their journey on the mission field 17 years ago in Nicaragua, and the Church they started there is still active today. Their vision is to see people in Guatemala and beyond experience a radical life change in the name of Jesus and to provide a community for them that is encouraging, supportive, and loving. This past season has been particularly challenging as they have been affected by severe weather in both their Guatemalan community and their U.S. community. From Hurricane Ian damaging their home in Florida to Hurricane Julia hitting them in Central America, they have been trying their best to keep everything running smoothly, and ensuring everyone is cared for.

They are grateful that their town in the Port did not experience as much damage or flooding as was predicted. However, the Northern parts of the country were not as fortunate. They are praying that the rain will stay away and give these poor, small villages a break.

Sadly, the area near the Hope Center in Nicaragua experienced severe flooding as a result of Julia. They opened the doors of the church to shelter people who lost everything in the floods, and they are still currently serving hundreds of people with shelter and food. Recently, Mision Hispana was able to send them a gift offering that helped serve 300 meals to those in need.

The Heier family feels humbled to see the church, planted 17 years ago by them, stepping up and loving their neighbours in these times of hardship. This is the DNA they live at Misión Hispana and they are overjoyed that the church continues to demonstrate that all these years later. They thank the Lord that another offer has come in, enabling Misión Hispana to send additional support to help families devastated by the storm.

Prayer Request:

We need your support and prayers in all of the above areas.
We have plans to send more support to Nicaragua to help those affected by the hurricane.
Please also pray for us as we prepare for Jesus Birthday Parties in December where we go to remote villages in Guatemala providing thousands of children and their families with cake, toys, and the story of Christ.
