At BiblePoetry our goal is to educate and showcase Bible poetry insights with Christians locally and globally while equipping people to study it on their own. In addition, we use the beauties of poetry to attract non-believers to the Gospel message as well.
We believe it is NOT possible to have a deep understanding of a poem without analyzing its poetic devices, yet half of the Old Testament is written as poetry (in the Hebrew language).
Most of the global Christian communities have never been exposed to Bible poetry. Why don't we look at poetic devices more? A big challenge is that Hebrew poetic devices are lost in translation and most Christians around the world, read the Bible in a translation
Bible poetry seems to be a world sparse with footprints and inaccessible without the Hebrew language, yet it is brimming with color and richness. Our vision is that Christians around the world would be able to experience the richness of Bible poetry and begin their journey to study it for themselves.
Poetry is not merely decorative. Poetic devices are what the writer uses to capture and express deep mysteries about God and our relationship with Him. That's why a deep understanding of the author’s rich message is the real gem that we are digging for. It is these types of gems that nourishes our souls and causes them to grow and flourish! But to obtain it, we must find and decipher unfamiliar Hebrew poetic devices like chiasms, parallelisms, inclusios, and wordplays.
One of our big projects is to create a Bible Study Webapp called Sela Project. This webapp is built on the principle that highlighting repeated words and ideas reveal Hebrew poetic devices. Through using this webapp, people will be able to explore and study Hebrew poetic devices without learning Hebrew.
We are a crowdfunded organization that relies on donors and volunteers to support our work. Your donated funds are crucial for our projects in teaching and sharing Bible Poetry with the world.
