Community House Damaris (CHD) is a Christian organization that operates two safe houses based in Athens, Greece, and offers a long-term recovery program (3-7 years) for women aged 18 to 35 and their children who have been or are at high risk of sexual exploitation or trafficking. Our program is designed to guide survivors into full rehabilitation and reintegration into society by addressing the following needs:
Mental health: Addressing trauma and mental health
Addressing poverty: Offering vocational training for the workplace environment
Social services: Giving access to public services for documents and social integration
Personal development: Teaching life skills, personal goals, relationship management, and parenthood
Health: Providing access to medical services and daily hygiene
We are a multicultural ministry that, since 2016, has been helping trafficked women and their children from several different countries to find hope and a future with the freedom of the Gospel. The Community of House Damaris stands like a family to all beneficiaries striving to meet their needs while being in the Program, equip them with the right tools for smooth integration, and also stand by them after graduating from the Program. Here are some testimonies from Program graduates:
“I look forward to the future. I am strong. I got over the anger and guilt. I am grateful for my life" K. a single mother from Africa.
“Now, I have been hired by a CHD partner organization and I am working on making bags. I have an income and I'm very happy about it." B. a young mother from Africa, Job training graduate.
"It's the best choice, it's a place where you can see yourself transformed”. V. single mother from Africa.
