The purpose of the Ministry of Eglise Baptiste de Dossouhoue is to make Christ known to the deeply rooted voodoo people in the Couffo and Mono regions of the country of Benin, by preaching the good news of Christ to them and planting churches that teach sound biblical doctrine in the communities.
Benin is known as the birthplace of Voodoo, and so many people are under demonic bondage. Voodoo, which is the worship of demons, guarantees no peace to its worshippers. People live in constant fear because they place curses on each other. We know that only Jesus can set people free from this. This is the reason why we think it is so important to start a strong preaching and teaching ministry of the gospel in the country. In doing this, we are facing challenges.
The need for means of transportation for the Evangelism team to travel to the villages. There are 16 people committed to going and preaching the gospel in the communities. We have provided them with the necessary training to do the work. Getting to the villages is not easy because of the distances. We need to use motorcycles and sometimes rent vans in order to travel to the different sites.
The need to train and financially support pastors who are looking after the new church plants. Currently, 7 men are called and have dedicated themselves to the pastoral ministry. They have very little and cannot afford to pay for their training, carry out ministry, and provide for their families. So, we are seeking to provide some financial support for them to take care of themselves and their families. We also need to pay the fees for their seminary studies.
The need to provide basic and simple structures to shelter the new church plants. Currently, we have planted 7 churches and are working on planting more. During the rainy season, the churches need to gather under roofs for worship; otherwise, some new believers quit. That is why we think it is important to provide roofs for them.
The ministry has tried to mobilize some funds to allow the evangelism team to continue its work. The 7 called men are currently in seminary to receive training, and we have paid some of the fees, but we need support in order to finish paying their fees and send more people to seminary. We have already provided shelters for 3 churches, and the rest are still waiting.
We believe that with your support, we will be able to do more in order to allow the communities to experience freedom from voodoo bondage, joy, and security as they hear the good news of Jesus Christ and dedicate their lives to Christ.
