Heartline’s mission is to invest in Haitian families. We do this through a holistic approach that focuses on maternal healthcare, career training, children’s education, and community care.
Haiti, the first independent black republic in the world bears the long-term impact of crushing debt placed upon it by the French following their independence in 1804. Coupled with years of dictatorial leadership and repeated government corruption, the relentless weather patterns of being in the Caribbean and lastly, a devastating earthquake in 2010, the Haitian people face continual challenges in an effort to live what most would consider a simple, normal life. As a result, Haitians face disparities in healthcare, education, civil services, and much more.
Heartline focuses on developing local leadership to address the challenges and invest in families in Haiti. A locally-led team leads all Heartline programs in maternal healthcare, career training, children’s education, and community care. With over 200 adult students in skills training courses including sewing, baking, computer skills, and literacy and cosmetology, we’re equipping adults to acquire the necessary skills to start their own business or work for other organizations. The Heartline Education and Employment Campus in Croix Des Bouquets, Haiti also serves as a home base for other nonprofit organizations focused on family preservation and job creation. When it comes to maternal healthcare, the Heartline Maternity Center recently celebrated over 1,500 babies born since opening and averages over 100 babies each year. Coupled with an investment in children’s education and community care, Heartline is working to promote sustainable change in the communities it serves.
When you give to Heartline, you are investing in families through our pillars – maternal healthcare, career training, children’s education and community care. Learn more about how you get involved by visiting our website.
