About This Project

Kung-Fu for Christ is a Christ-centered ministry that uses martial arts as a tool for evangelism, discipleship, and community outreach. Through faith-based martial arts training, the program shares the Gospel, helps students grow in their relationship with Christ, and encourages them to live out their God-given purpose. Rooted in Christian values, Kung-Fu for Christ uses sport as a creative way to respond to social issues such as exclusion and poverty while building meaningful relationships within the community.

Kung-Fu for Christ offers a place of belonging for children, adults, and families from all walks of life. The program especially welcomes those who may feel left out of traditional sports or social programs, including individuals struggling with mental illness, substance use, or financial hardship. Kung-Fu for Christ also partners with Family & Children's Services of the Waterloo Region to reach more youth and better serve the community.

The ministry offers six classes each week year-round:

• Two community youth classes serving approximately 110 children training them in martial arts and introducing them to the Gospel message, followed by a youth-led Bible study attended by an average of 50 children weekly.

• Two adult classes serving approximately 40 adults, combining martial arts training with faith, encouragement, and community.

• Two leadership classes: one for youth leaders focused on developing Christ-centered leadership skills they can apply within the program, at home, at school, and in the community and one for adult leaders focused on mentoring students to reach their Godly potential.

In addition to regular classes, Kung-Fu for Christ also offers:

• Women’s Self-Defence and Personal Safety courses that equip women with practical strategies to avoid unsafe situations when possible, along with the confidence and skills to defend themselves if necessary.

• PD Day Camps for current students and youth in the community, featuring introductory kung-fu classes, Bible lessons, and activities designed to introduce participants to both martial arts and the Christian faith.

• First Aid and CPR training led by a certified instructor. Volunteers are encouraged to become certified, and members of the community are also welcome to participate.

Why support Kung-Fu for Christ?

Since 2013, Kung-Fu for Christ has remained committed to offering all programming free of charge so that financial barriers never prevent someone from hearing the Gospel, finding community, or participating in training.

Donations help cover ongoing operational costs such as uniforms and belts, Bibles, training equipment, and program expenses that allow the ministry to continue serving the community.
