THE DIHYA FOUNDATION is a non-governmental organization that is set to focus on the health of women in Nigeria, especially when it comes to female reproductive health care. We are focused mainly on awareness, sensitization, and education of breast, cervical, and ovarian cancer, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), Family planning, HIV/AIDS, etc.
We are dedicated to helping women have unlimited access to information and education concerning their reproductive health as well as equipping them with the right resources to be able to fulfill their potential in their economies without fear of unforeseen reproductive health issues.
A world where every woman will have freedom irrespective of their reproductive health choices or circumstances.
A girl child in Nigeria is expected to accept whatever is thrown at her. Hence, she faces issues and problems she thinks are the norm because she is female. Wrong practices such as sexual abuse, early marriage, female genital Mutilation, and lack of (reproductive health) education have therefore put many girl children in harm’s way reproductively. This has resulted in teenage pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections/diseases. These affected girls grow up to become women unaware of their reproductive rights and are further exposed to harm.
Financial shortfalls that lead to chronic underfunding of reproductive health
Weak overall health systems, which have often deprioritized reproductive health already, are easily overwhelmed by a crisis and unable to recover quickly.
Cultural norms that support harmful practices in reproductive health.
Visiting schools and clinics to sensitize and educate girls and women on the best practices for having good reproductive health
