About This Project

What Compels Us to Serve

We live in a world where technological advancement, medical breakthroughs, and various innovations have improved many lives. Yet, millions of people continue to experience harsh (often unimaginable) living conditions due to violence and poverty. War and corruption have taken over 6 million lives in the Congo, where the cycle of violence and poverty continues to undermine millions of people’s well-being. The story of Oliver best embodies this reality.

In 2007, Oliver was born to a single mother. Shortly after giving birth to Oliver, his mother passed away, and his uncle was responsible for providing for him. With limited resources and support, and after a month of sleepless nights trying to care for Oliver, his uncle abandoned and left Oliver for dead at a gravesite. One evening, children playing near the gravesite heard Oliver’s cry and took him to a hospital where he was cared for by a group of mothers at a nearby hospital. At the hospital, Oliver met Sabuli Sanguma, who personally took care of him and, shortly after, dedicated her life to creating a haven for over 100 vulnerable children facing similar experiences.

Oliver’s story has inspired our commitment to work towards a world where every person has the opportunity to lead a life of well-being and to be part of a thriving community. Oliver’s story reminds us that even amid darkness, there is hope. We believe that together, through life-giving partnerships, we can turn this hope into reality by co-creating an environment in the Gemena region and beyond where the basic needs of children and youth are met, where every child is holistically equipped to be leaders of their communities, and where children can thrive in a community where access to hope and opportunities is available for all.

Our Vision

Every person has the opportunity to lead a life of well-being and to be part of a thriving community.

Our Mission

Our mission is to advance the holistic development of children to lead a purpose-driven life of well-being, to equip a generation of leaders that empower transformational change, and to promote the necessary infrastructures for economic sustainability.

Our Approach

We partner and collaborate with community leaders, local experts, and change agents to share essential resources and thought leadership to cultivate the necessary conditions for transformational change that aims to ensure every person has the opportunity to lead a life of well-being and be part of a thriving community.

Our Work

We are working with urgency to:

  • promote dignity and hope by serving vulnerable children with a safe home and loving care;

  • equip a generation of leaders through high-quality education;

  • provide access to quality, affordable, and comprehensive medical care to community members furthest from equitable opportunity and

  • cultivate economic development through vocational training to promote social mobility.
