The Charles Owor Foundation sponsors women to acquire new employment skills and training through Sparrows Nest program. The Foundation’s vision is to see women gainfully employed and providing for their families to help end the cycle of poverty for them. Most of the women involved in the program are from the Gulu District and Puranga town in Pader. The proposed Owor University project will be a non-profit educational institution that focuses on educating local students in life skills programs. Much of the focus will be on Agriculture and Environmental Sciences due to its location in a rural and agrarian region. Sparrows Nest will also provide secretarial training and self-employment skills from the Owor University, once the renovation to the current building is completed; the building was formerly the Owor’s family home and will house the Owor University.
