A boy does not become a man by growing older. For there are many boys who are 5, 15, 35, and 75 years old. Rather, a boy starts to become a man when he responds to God's calling upon his life and begins to realize that God is his true Father. The Arrow School for Men exists to encourage boys to take that first step of surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and to pass along the training, wisdom, and courage necessary to finish the race.
Our primary means to facilitate this process is our 6-day Encampments where we teach young men (ages 11-17) valuable life skills such as how to have a quiet time with God, how to memorize God’s word, cooking, canoeing, woodwork, landscaping, hiking, how to handle firearms and tools, and how to ride horses, all done out in God’s beautiful creation.
Our main challenges are to 1) recruit young men to attend our Encampments and then 2) how to offset the additional expenses not covered by the registration fee. Our goal is to make Encampments “once in a lifetime” transformative experiences where we connect young men with God and other men but doing so is costly in terms of time, sweat, and finances!
Our current goal is to raise $36,000 in 2024 to fully fund our Jr. and Sr. Encampments this Summer which will welcome 36 total campers. It costs approximately $1000 per camper to cover all expenses with a $350 registration fee so we need to cover the $650 difference. A $100 monthly donation would be a wonderful way to help us cover the difference for 2 campers – or a one-time $650 donation would cover 1 camper!
