Fight For Freedom is a Christian humanitarian organization that provides life-saving and life-transforming interventions and programs for vulnerable and marginalized people in Romania and Ukraine. One of our most significant areas of work in Romania is our Prisoner Rehabilitation Department, the goal of which is to help incarcerated and recently-released men find a new life in Christ and re-enter into society successfully as positive, contributing members of their families and society. In Romania, the recidivism rate among the incarcerated is extremely high, in part due to the marginalization men experience upon release. Employers won't give an ex-convict a job and landlords won't rent an apartment, so most recommit a crime just to get off the streets.

We work to interrupt this vicious cycle by operating two major programs:

• Prison Outreach: Using staff and volunteers, we visit prisons throughout Romania, gathering incarcerated men for Christ-centered programming. This outreach includes spiritual services, life and persondal development training meetings, family unification events, and other special events.

• Residential Rehabilitation Center: We operate a residential rehabilitation center called New Beginnings, which is for men recently released from prison who desire support in finding and starting a new life. In addition to providing for their room and board, we provide job training, life skills training, Christian-based spiritual training and support, therapeutic support, family reunification support, and assistance with finding housing and a job upon graduation from the program.

By helping these men, we not only empower them to discover and become the man God has made them to be, but we also perform an invaluable service to the greater society, through the reduced crime that results, and the benefit of having more men being positive contributors to the social structure.

The chief thing we need is ongoing financial support. We are blessed with the physical infrastructure, staff, knowledge, and government and penitentiary system relationships to operate our high-quality programs with excellence. With more funding, we can reach more prisons and more men with our life-changing programs.
