FPPS assists all bereavement professionals with mental wellness. Death service providers face traumatic situations everyday leading to a substantial amount of individuals being effected by PTSD, burnout, substance issues, depression, anxiety and more. FPPS is a group of peer volunteers who personally understand the unique nature of the Funeral Service industry.
The greatest challenges that Funeral Professionals are currently facing are:
Burnout – Staffing shortages, long hours, night and weekend shifts, high intensity situations, workplace dynamics, work-life balance and relatively modest salaries have increased the pressure for the majority of staff in the bereavement sector.
Trauma – Death, handling human remains, grief, honoring lives lived & decedents’ family dynamics are all a constant part of the day-to-day. Whilst facing these events, the Professional is the one who provides guidance, leadership, calm, organization, paperwork, contracts, permits, minute-detail event planning and scheduling for multiple families at a time.
Cost of Living – Salaries have not increased in comparison with the cost of living, many death professionals are stressed with finances, adding extra shifts or side jobs to an already overladen plate.
