Located in Kalagala Village, Matale Parish, Kalisizo Town Council, Kyotera District (Uganda), Pearl Global Ministry has a purpose and goal to impact the lives of vulnerable people through sharing the Gospel, delivering education programs, providing healthcare, and more. Lives are enhanced and encouraged through: Language Services (provides translations and interpretation), Adult Literacy Center (provides for people who want to learn English and local language; Pearl's founder won Uganda's annual national linguistic competitions three times), Talent Search (women's football, and other), Elderly Care Center (providing some basic needs like food and hygiene products), Pearl Savers Club (an informal financial institute), Agricultural Center (organic farming, as well as making fertilizers and animal feeds), Environmental Conservation Campaign (gathering plastics and compostable materials), Day Care Center (for students who are mothers), and coming soon, a Nursery and a Primary School.
Pearl's Vocational Training Institute began in 2022, following the COVID pandemic, when many young girls became mothers at a very early age. Pearl has worked with 40 girls who are being trained to enter the field to serve. The Institute offers courses in cosmetology (including hairdressing, manicure, pedicure, and beauty therapies), tailoring, fashion and design, garment cutting, baking, cooking, catering and hotel management, decoration, language literacy, business management, home management and economics, and elderly care.
Pearl's greatest challenge is funding. Limited contributions from individuals, businesses, corporations, and foundations are the primary sources of revenue, but more are required. The need is tremendous and Pearl has established programs to help. Resources in the area are scarce, so it is necessary to widen the financial reach. Legal support and representation are also needed.
Pearl has agricultural programs, including growing coffee beans and bananas, to provide food for those in care, as well as to sell to support ministry work. Proposals are submitted to potential funding sources, and a more formal funding plan is in development. The greatest need is general support for rent, utilities and other operating expenses.
