About this Partner

Our Ministry

Sonship is a Christ-centered organization based in Burundi whose mission is to share Jesus, make disciples, and encourage spiritual growth through practical activities in Christ and Education.  In partnership with local churches, we build Bible study clubs, run foster-homes, orphan care, and mission outreach initiatives.

At the heart of what we do is “Missioned International Academy” — a bilingual elementary school offering free education to underserved children in northern Burundi, especially in the Kirundo province.

What began under a tree in 2019 with only 11 children has grown significantly. Today, we are educating over 700 children — both orphaned children in supporting foster-homes, and children supported by their families.

Our Mission

To empower vulnerable children through Christ-centered, quality education; to disciple them in faith; and to raise up the next generation of God-fearing leaders who can transform their communities.

Our Vision

We envision a community where no child is deprived of education or spiritual nurture because of abandonment, poverty, or disadvantage. Through our School and our associated ministry partnerships, we aim to see:

  • Every child, regardless of background, completing their elementary education.

  • A generation growing in knowledge, character, and faith, equipped to lead.

  • Local families empowered, knowing their children are being served holistically.

 Why This Matters / Impact

  • Education is a gift that can never be taken away — for many of our students, this is the first consistent chance they have had.

  • Providing free schooling and foster care relieves families of the financial burden and gives hope and stability to orphaned or abandoned children.

  • Beyond academics, our children are being discipled in Christian values, taught to think critically, and equipped spiritually through the ministry’s outreach, Bible study groups, and church partnerships.

What We Do

  • Free & inclusive education through UIS for both orphaned & non-orphaned children in Kirundo and surrounding areas.

  • Spiritual discipleship, including Bible clubs, mentorship, church partnerships, and offering gospel teaching in every part of our programming.

  • Holistic care, including foster care for abandoned children, safe learning environments, and support for families.

  • Community & church engagement, to build sustainable models where local leaders, parents, and volunteers partner with us.

Join Us

Your support matters. With donations, volunteers, and prayer partners, we can:

  • Build more classrooms and expand capacity so we can serve more children.

  • Provide learning materials, uniforms, meals, and care for orphaned or disadvantaged students.

  • Strengthen our discipleship programs so students grow not just academically, but spiritually and character-wise.
